Fusing hints of gooseberry and grapefruit with a clean refreshing finish, this wine is like an alpine athlete: muscular but slim, reliable and agile, refreshing and strong.

A year that got a lot right. The mild winter led to early budding and a long vegetation period. A cold May followed by hot June ensured fast and friction-free flowering. The dry summer forced the vines to search deep in the ground for moisture, and the cool September nights were responsible for making the vintage taste so deliciously aromatic and refreshing.

Our Ried Hoch Sernau vineyard is a steep, high location near Gamlitz in southern Styria. Thanks to the southeast exposure, the vines enjoy full sun exposure while being simultaneously cooled by aromatic air currents, so that the grapes benefit from an extremely long vegetation phase.

In order to bring as much taste and aroma as possible into the wines, the hand-picked grapes are allowed to macerate for a few hours on the mash and are then pressed very gently and slowly. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, maturation in wooden barrels for 10 months.

This is the ideal wine to have with oysters! It also goes well with briefly cooked Swiss chard with pecorino cheese, with pasta with broccoli and chilli, with grilled prawns and with fried or smoked fish. A dream combination: sautéed St. Jacques with a spoonful of caviar on top.

Light green-yellow, silver reflections. Delicate meadow herbs, yellow gooseberry fruit, delicate cassis, a hint of grapefruit zest, inviting bouquet.
