  • 2017 was the sort of year that winemakers dream of. During the hot, dry summer weeks, the grapes developed incredible ripeness with a lot of density and a compact body. Alongside 2015, 2017 is certainly the best year of the decade.

  • The grapes for this wine come from the vineyards around Deutschkreutz. Special care was taken to ensure that the soil was covered with sufficient clay. This guaranteed the Zweigelt the necessary moisture so that it could develop its unique and opulent ripeness.

  • The grapes were harvested by hand, carefully curated in the cellar and then underwent a tightly controlled slow fermentation. The wine matured in French oak for two and a half years and was bottled in summer 2020.

  • This wine needs strong opponents. Roasted pink beef, lamb chop, braised ox drag, with rosemary potatoes and red wine onions.

  • Strong ruby garnet, violet reflections, subtle ocher edge brightening. Delicate herbal spices, black cherries, a hint of blackberries, underlaid with a little liquorice. Juicy, elegant and fresh, fine tannins, mineral-lemon touch, a lively, spicy accompaniment to food. - Peter Moser, Falstaff
